Photo Gallery: Brijuni, Croatia

The Brijuni National Park is a set of 14 islands of which only the largest is able to be visited. The only way onto the island is through the Brijuni National Park ferry. All other excursion tours take you around the island but can not land on the island. Keep that in mind if you are planning to visit the area. Fazana is the name of the city in which the ferry anchors.

The national park is an interesting mix of ancient Roman ruins, unique flora and fauna, and Croatian history. The main island, by many people, is known as Tito’s island so as you walk through it you’ll see evidence of his presence preserved here. If you take the guided tour offered to you when you get onto the island (and why wouldn’t you it’s included in your ticket) you’ll get an hour long train ride through the entire island and then you can later visit your favorite places on your own.

From what I can tell, the island is largely uninhabited. The three hotels located on the island are the only places where people can stay in while on the island. While I didn’t do this, I would recommend staying in one of these if you are planning on spending a lot of time exploring the island or if you just want to spend the night surrounded by beautiful nature.

Note: All the pictures below were taken by me during my trip here.
